For those traveling from out of state there are two options:
1. Fly to Hayden (about 30 minutes West of Steamboat Springs)
2) Fly to Denver and drive ~2.5 hours to Steamboat
Both United and South West offer daily flights to Hayden. While it is a little more expensive to fly into Hayden, many find it easier than renting a car or finding a shuttle from Denver. Flying into Hayden means as long as you are okay with the free bus around town, there is no need to rent a car.
Shuttles from Hayden are readily available to take you into Steamboat from Hayden Airport.
Showing up to Hayden (Yampa Valley Regional), you can rent a car on the spot right at the main desk. You'll see the desk...it's the only desk in the arrivals section as it's a very small airport!
If you do not plan on renting a car, you can easily get to Steamboat via:

You can choose to book ahead of time or just find the next shuttle into town when you arrive. It's about $40-50 per person, but these will take you directly to your lodging from Hayden.
If you choose to fly into Denver, here are your options.

1. For private shuttles / non-shared service:

2. There is a bus that runs once a day from Denver to Steamboat. It's only $28 but you will need to get from the airport to Union Station in order to catch the bus.
The light rail at DIA will take you directly there. This will add about 2 hours of travel time vs. driving directly:

There is an amazing free bus option to take you around town for most hours of the day.
Strawberry Hot Springs also has a shuttle that goes up there from town and you can book that online.
Enterprise is our best car rental option. www.enterprise.com

Enterprise is offered at DIA and in Steamboat Springs and is the best option for renting a car.
